As a dynamic and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant, my main responsibilities include reinforcement of lessons presented by teachers through reviewing course material with students one-on-one or in small groups. In addition, I promote good people behaviour, record achievements, and deal promptly with conflict and incidents in line with established policy. Lastly, I cover entire class lessons and run extra-curricular touch-typing classes twice a week.My studies in Psychology have enabled me to apply and transfer knowledge about children with developmental delay to the world of work. This included working with children who have ADHD, autism and other developmental issues.

I spent two weeks work experience as a teaching assistant at Rosh Pinah Primary School. I worked with Year Five, supporting the class teacher to deliver quality teaching. Day to day tasks included helping to prepare for lessons by tailoring resources specifically for that session. I taught English and Mathematics to small groups of children who needed additional one-to-one support. I assisted children with the use of ICT in learning activities, developing their competence and independence in its use.

I carried out one week’s work experience shadowing a Barrister in the Crown Court. This was an insightful week as it involved listening to trials and visiting clients. Being present in the court room was useful as I was able to apply my knowledge of psychology, such as Forensic Psychology, to understand differing individual behaviours.
