  The IDB Lab is the innovation laboratory of the Inter-American Development Bank. We drive innovation for inclusion and environmental sustainability, working with entrepreneurs and their ecosystems. One of the Lab’s main mandates is to reach scalability of its projects working with the private and public sectors. I lead a group tasked with scaling the impact of our grants and investments, enabling connections between startups and investors, big tech, governments, and other relevant actors. These connections materialize through resource mobilization, knowledge sharing, sourcing solutions, the provision of market access and impact measurement. In this role, I continue to focus on the leveraging of technologies (especially AI) to solve development problems with a responsible and ethical approach. Show less

  • Lead IDB’s social program (focused on education, health, social protection, labor markets, gender, diversity, and migration) positioning it as a priority area for the Bank. Efforts included historical approvals for the sector in 2020, including $4.4B of leading and $50M in grants in response to COVID19. • Developed and implemented IDB’s social digital agenda by leveraging private solutions to solve public policy challenges. • Created, in collaboration with IDB Lab, fAIr LAC, the first regional alliance to promote the responsible and ethical use of AI. Diversified the IDB’s education project portfolio, financing new areas such as the application of Technology for Education (1-1 and virtual education) and innovations in school-to-work transitions, among others. • Created innovative alliances aimed at improving the quality of education with private sector partners such as Intel, Microsoft, the MIT Innovation Lab and Private Sector Associations and NGOs (such as Todos Pela Educacao, Mexicanos Primero, and Teach for America) in more than 20 Latin American and Caribbean countries.
