CMAA's manager members run more than 2,500 country, golf, city, athletic, faculty, yacht, town and military clubs and CMAA has about 6,700 members across all classifications. The objectives of the Association are to promote and advance friendly relations among persons connected with the management of clubs and other associations of similar character; to encourage the education and advancement of its members; and to assist club officers and members, through their managers, to secure the utmost in efficient and successful operations. A few accomplishments include: - I completed a significant internal evaluation and operational reorganization resulting in an immediate change in the operating culture and structure of the organization. These changes also created an environment of fiscal profitability, which CMAA had found to be elusive for many years. - Twice facilitated a year long member engagement process as part of an overall strategic planning initiative to create a platform for significant organizational and member focused evolution for the next 3+ years. - Developed two organization wide Strategic Plan with results of a reorganized the 501c(3) foundation, acquired the Club Spa & Fitness Association, added new member education programs and overhauled outdated internal technology infrastructure. NIRI is the professional association of corporate officers and investor relations consultants responsible for communication among corporate management, the investing public and the financial community. NIRI members represent the majority of publicly held corporations with over $9 trillion in stock market capitalization. NIRI sets the standard in education to advance the practice of investor relations and meet the professional development needs of those engaged in the field. A few of my accomplishments: • Strategic Planning. Led an evolutionary strategic planning process of Board, chapter leaders, and other key constituents resulting in significant organizational mission realignment to support evolving global capital markets. NIRI has moved from U.S. to globally focused, concentrating on corporate financial communication competencies necessary for interaction with investors, potential investors, press, analysts and others in global capital markets. • Advocacy. Revamped advocacy efforts to use coalitions, research-based advocacy and other tactics to enhance NIRI’s SEC regulatory agenda. • Member Value. Replaced a “one size fits all” member services model with multiple distinct segments and new pricing. Member services and member satisfaction have increased and global membership grew from 2% to 17% of organization’s membership. • Information and Research. Added in-house research and related practice capabilities. Overhauled NIRI’s communication system to increase relevancy and flow of information via multiple communication mediums: web, email, blogs, social media, and video-based programs. • IR Practice. Developed and implemented a strategy for standardizing global IR practices that included the 2016 launch of an IR certification program. Professional development revenues have increased by 20% due to the introduction of general, specialized and sector specific offerings with annual conference attracting more than 1/3 of members annually. The Institute for Financial Markets, founded in 1989 as the Futures Industry Institute, is a nonprofit educational foundation whose mission focuses on three primary areas - education, ethics and data. The Institute is unique in its purpose and mission and is recognized for the quality and balance of its work. During my employment, the IFM strived to promote professional knowledge, judgment and integrity by providing research, educational resources and training to financial services professionals, exchanges, investors, and to interested constituencies including journalists, academicians, regulators and public-policy makers. The IFM is an affiliate of the Futures Industry Association, but operates autonomously as an independent foundation, and is governed by a Board of Trustees, separate and apart from the FIA Board of Directors. The Institute's Trustees are drawn from the principal segments of the industry and provide policy guidance and direction to the foundation. A large part of my focus was strategic positioning for IFM. I aligned IFM to refocus on core mission areas of “education, ethics and data”, returning the organization to profitability after five years of financial losses by moving the organization from donations to services as the primary source of funding. I leveraged IFM’s market position for development of a global transaction fee database for all global futures contracts and expansion of outsourcing education services to achieve these goals. FIA is the only association representative of all organizations that have an interest in the futures market. During my employment, FIA had more than 180 corporate members, reaching thousands of industry participants. Regular Members are futures commission merchants. FIA estimated that regular members are responsible for more than 80% of the customer business transacted on U.S. futures exchanges. Through these members FIA represents the needs of futures industry customers; in fact, FIA members include the top 20 firms in terms of customer equity. Associate Members include international exchanges, banks, legal and accounting firms, introducing brokers, commodity trading advisors, commodity pool operators and other market users, and information and equipment providers headquartered in the U.S.A. and abroad. A few of my accomplishments: • Operations and Fiscal Management. Reconfigured internal operations, improved operating efficiencies, and devoted more funds directly to member services, resulting in a 50% increase in profits over a five year period. • Member Development & Retention. Implemented a revised dues and membership structure to better align the organization with the changing global industry. Results included 80% membership revenue growth over eight years and fueled organization growth from $4,500,000 to $11,500,000 during that period. • Regulatory and Constituent Representation. Led FIA effort with U.S. Treasury, Homeland Security, Commodity Futures Trading Commission, and Securities & Exchange Commission to ensure market integrity and critical infrastructure protection post September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks.
