İstanbul, Türkiye (Acquired by Triple.co) It's a travel marketplace connecting travelers and locals through unique local experiences and tours. My friends and I founded the company in 2016. Besides investor and business relations, I managed growth and marketing from bootstrapping to paid marketing. In early times, I also did product development and management. 2 years later, the company was acquired by one of our competitors.

We were also responsible for product development management where each of us was working closely with developers to get the developments done according to monthly and yearly schedules. I was using SQL for data queries.

It was surprisingly growing fast thanks to the sleepless nights of works and the amazing customer service we've been providing for our users with my friends. It was shortly becoming a love-brand among the youth in Istanbul. However, we couldn't manage this growth and after a few mistakes, we failed and had to shut down the operations. It was an on-demand personal assistant that was powered by a machine learning system designed to help our members find and make reservations at cafes, restaurants, clubs at a real-time chat speed. It was working like your best friend who is available 24/7 and a text away. It was a real-time chat alternative of Yelp, Foursquare, Zomato. Update: we tested out this same idea slightly improving in New York a few years later with a small budget for a short time. The initial KPIs were promising but not enough for us to leave our gigs at that time. So we decided not to pursue. Anyone working on similar ideas? Reach out, let’s chat. Show less

During my time over there, I have done lots of offline/online meetings with the leading corporate logistic firms in Turkey to understand their needs & risks and offer them the right insurance solutions. Depending on the solution, I was getting in touch with foreign insurance companies or local ones to negotiate for insurance policy terms and prices to be competitive. Later, I was preparing the proposals and presenting it to the client and trying to close the sale. Show less
