After my PhD, I was awarded the Earth Institute of Columbia University Postdoctoral Fellowship in 2016. I completed that in 2018, maintaining close collaboration with members of my cohort, and transitioned to the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory as Postdoctoral Research Scientist. In my research, I use chemical transport models (CMAQ, GEOS-Chem) to understand anthropogenic energy sector contributions to outdoor air quality. Using model-estimated exposure estimates and concentration-response functions, I quantify the human health burden avoided from combustion sectors such as domestic biomass burning, transportation, and electricity production in India. Further, I am interested in seasonal and sub-seasonal changes in aerosol composition, specifically as it relates to seasonal biomass burning. I work both across disciplines and internationally to develop and publish this research. This involves giving seminars, lectures, and working closely with collaborators (sometimes across time zones!). In my time as postdoc, I have led and participated in coordinating visits to senate and congressional offices with fellow scientists for the American Geophysical Union Climate Science and Geoscience Visit Days. I was selected for the competitive American Meteorological Society Summer Policy Colloquium where participants interacted with legislators and science policy professionals. As a graduate research assistant, I fulfilled many roles. In my research, I used the Community Multi-scale Air Quality (CMAQ) model extensively in conjunction with in situ measurements and satellite observations. With these tools, I sought to understand the natural (or biogenic) contribution to particulate matter pollution in the U.S., used CMAQ to evaluate the freight modal shift impact on air pollution in the Midwest U.S., evaluated anthropogenic sectoral impacts on particle and ozone… Show more As a graduate research assistant, I fulfilled many roles. • Sep 2012 - May 2016

Tutor student athletes in Algebra, Trigonometry, Calculus, Water Sciences, Weather and Climate. Often coordinated schedules with multiple students for group sessions.

    • Project Assistant
      • Jan 2012 - May 2012

Completed my first independent research project trying to understand how boundary conditions influence air quality within a domain. Used the Community Multi-scale Air Quality (CMAQ) model with personally modified boundary conditions data sets to achieve this goal.

Performed air quality model simulations with the Community Multi-scale Air Quality (CMAQ) model to evaluate measurements of a particular isoprene-derived aerosol species taken in Atlanta, GA in late summer 2011. Results from this research project were incorporated in my M.S. thesis.
