The stackee position at the Young Research Library assists the department in maintaining the shelving operations for the library's 3 million volume stack collection. My position allowed me to demonstrate my alphanumeric sorting by building book trucks to be shelved within the 5 levels of the library, and allowed me to establish strong interpersonal communication skills with co-workers, supervisors, and managers in order to efficiently maintain the stacks collection.

The Yang Yang Lab works on solution processable thin film electronic devices. We study photovoltaic cells, digital memory units, light emitting diodes, and thin film transistors. My position as an Undergraduate Research Assistant focuses on synthesizing organic molecules - through reaction, extraction, and purification - that would make efficient organic photovoltaic solar cells competitive against their current silicon solar cell counterparts. Head Advising Fellow

Matriculate's mission is to empower high-achieving, low-income high school students and aims to help them make the leap into our nation's best colleges and universities. My job as a head advising fellow was to collaborate with the UCLA Matriculate Cohort 2023 leadership team to plan and recruit new members for our fellowship. I managed the cohort's Advising Fellows and trained them with the skills necessary to advise their High School Fellows through the college application process.

As an advising fellow, I organized and conducted weekly meetings with high school fellows to discuss their college application process, including building college lists, test preparation, editing essays, and reviewing financial aid packages and scholarships. My knowledge in the college application process has led me to advising four high school students into University of Pennsylvania, Williams College, UT Austin, and Florida State University.

The UCLA Undergraduate Science Journal is a peer-reviewed publication that displays top-quality research performed by UCLA undergraduates in all STEM fields. As an editor of USJ Volumes 34 and 35, I edited undergraduates' research and review papers, improving the paper's accuracy, coherence, and grammar. I also collaborated with the USJ Review and Layout Boards to ensure the Volume 34 and 35 were successfully and aesthetically assembled. Project SEED Cabin Leader

ACS Project SEED Virtual Summer Camp aimed to narrow the gap in STEM fields, college enrollment, and graduation rates between economically-disadvantaged high school students and students from more affluent backgrounds. In this role, I engaged 7 high-achieving and science-driven high school students from the Northwest in 15 meetings over 5 weeks where we discussed interesting scientific research and improved professional development skills. The NSF-funded materials science REU Site consisted of 10 undergraduates who worked on an individualized research project for 10 weeks. My work was in the Computational Materials Engineering Lab where I incorporated Python and Unix Code to computationally model the interactions between molecules and analyzed the the most efficient organization for organic photovoltaics. I prepared and presented a research poster exhibiting my observations at the virtual Idaho Conference of Undergraduate Research. Show less

ACS Project SEED is a summer internship opportunity that grants high school students 8-10 week of research experience in a laboratory. I researched in the Hurley Corrosion Lab where I tested and compared the corrosion properties of additively manufactured and wrought stainless steels and developed and revised protocols for future laboratory experiments.
