I have worked closely with Laurabeth over the past 7 years in various capacities at Best Delegate. From working as co-staff members at summer Model UN programs, to serving as Laurabeth’s direct report in a full-time capacity, it has been a wonderful experience every time. Laurabeth is currently serving as the Executive Director of Partnerships at Best Delegate, where she oversees the marketing and sales processes of the company. Laurabeth is a key contact for institutional partnerships with school districts, government organizations, and United Nations agencies that want to work with Best Delegate. She runs a very effective team that is responsible for numerous marketing and sales activities, including lead generation campaigns, email marketing campaigns, customer service, paid advertising, website creation, and more. Laurabeth is a highly effective manager who excels in setting expectations and providing autonomy to her direct reports while still maintaining an efficient team. She is a gifted communicator and is able to convey ideas and feedback in a meaningful way. Laurabeth also has a deep understanding of business strategy and is constantly working to achieve company goals through the activities of her team and herself. In addition, Laurabeth is deeply passionate about and committed to creating positive change wherever possible. Highly educated in human rights, international relations, business, and management, Laurabeth possesses unique insight into corporate-social responsibility and how to measure impact. I have enjoyed my time working with Laurabeth as her direct report and as a peer, and any organization would be extremely lucky to have her on their team!

Laurabeth is one of the most positive and strong-willed individuals I have ever met. I have seen Laurabeth thrive in multiple situations by always applying a smile and a creative mindset to how to solve a problem. In 2015, I joined Best Delegate as a Diplomacy Fellow and Laurabeth was one of my mentors and managers. I had the pleasure of learning from her firsthand how to keep my teaching fun and engaging, while also appropriate to the context of our Model UN Institute. I also learned from her tips and ideas for how to teach students from diverse backgrounds I hadn’t met before, such as students from Idea Public Schools or students from China for whom English was their second language. Later that year, I joined Laurabeth on a trip to North East India, and again saw her passion for teaching shine as she guided students through complex International Relations issues. I remember her saying

I analyzed The Carter Center’s Democracy Program funding from 2008-2013 including external funding, internal allocations, expenditures by election observation mission, country, region, and donor. I used the data to draw trends on rate of returns for grant applications, the number of no-cost extensions needed on grants, and the amount of funding needed for election monitoring projects. This analysis helped to inform current and future work conducted by the development team and served as an introduction to Peace Programs funding for the incoming Chief Development Officer. I also wrote a concept note for a project that The Carter Center is developing in The Democratic Republic of The Congo. I wrote this proposal in collaboration with the field office in Kinshasa and the program staff at The Carter Center. Additionally, I researched and wrote briefings on potential individual and foundation donors that the development team used to obtain funds for The Carter Center Peace Programs. I also compiled weekly updates on political and development news that related to the work of The Carter Center Peace Programs. Show less

Working with a team of two other fellows, I helped promote and enhance parental engagement in the Atlanta Public School system. My team and I designed, conducted, and evaluated surveys, interviews, and focus groups, which measured parental engagement in the Coan Middle School catchment area. We also spearheaded the planning of community events and parent workshops. Collaborating with community stakeholders, including parents, teachers, nonprofits, and community associations, our team's work culminated in a strategic plan to improve parental engagement, and in turn, increase academic performance of students. I developed Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast, Florida's (GSGCF) social media campaign to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Girls Scouts of the USA. Highlighting the girl scouts of today, the social media campaign included a YouTube page with custom banners, a Facebook page, and Twitter account. GSGCF's Facebook page amassed over 1000 followers and provided up to date events, newsletters, videos, and interactive trivia. I produced a series of marketing videos and photographs for fundraising, recruitment, and special events, which Girl Scouts has continued to use extensively for publicity. In addition, I developed a teen intern program to enable middle and high school girls to intern at the headquarters for Girl Scouts. Finally, I planned the 100th anniversary celebration for over 1000 people. As a result of the event and the surrounding newspaper, television, and radio coverage we were able to recruit girls and secure donors. Show less
