Trisha is a champion of excellence and thoughtful developed practices. Working with her at the University of Utah, I knew that whatever project she was committed to would be well thought-out, developed, and would meet the desired outcomes, time and time again. Trisha joined the Career and Professional Development Center from another department on campus and stepped into a newly created role with no clear parameters in place. Trisha developed goals and a systematic approach that aligned campus, a 30,000+ behemoth, with our larger mission in the center while also partnering with employers, locally and nationally to meet their needs. As a result of her work, awareness and structured programming around internships has greatly increased on campus and our students have become more competitive. I greatly appreciated her insights while sitting on our Leadership Team. She championed our goal of helping students while also ensuring that we were thoughtful in preemptively navigating the different angles, approaches, and obstacles. The center is a trusted center of innovation thanks in part to the framework she brings. I consider her a strong leader and know that she would be an asset to any team.

Trisha is one of the best leaders I know. I love working with her because the outcomes are always exceptional. It is amazing to see how skilled she is at planning and executing complex projects with efficiency. She also has a knack for building and maintaining professional relationships. One of her greatest talents however is to anticipate the needs of situations and troubleshoot them before problems arise. I can say without a doubt, she is one in a million, and it is always a privilege to be on her team.

In 2016 I was promoted to Assistant Director and asked to take on a leadership role within the Employer Engagement team in our Center (in addition to what I was already doing with internships). My responsibilities are now twofold. I serve on the Center’s leadership team for employer engagement and as the Center's internship coordinator. I provide leadership in campus recruitment by implementing team strategies to increase the quality and effectiveness of our team’s employer outreach activities. I’m responsible for relationship management of all recruiters in my assigned industry sectors: Non-Profit; Government & Public Service; Defense; and Social & Human Services. I manage event planning and logistics for all employer-facing interactions between recruiters and students including, but not limited to, career fairs, on-campus interviewing, information sessions, employer site visits, employer panels, workshops, etc. Additionally, I consult with recruiters on a variety of recruitment topics from branding vs. recruiting on campus, writing and editing of position descriptions and recruitment plans, compensation and hiring trends by industry, and campus recruitment policies and best practices. And I still do internships! I work with employers, my Career Center colleagues, and campus academic departments to create opportunities, disseminate knowledge, and ensure consistency around internships. I consult with employers looking to recruit students on how to create internship programs, write position descriptions, be familiar with hiring trends, student and campus expectations, and recruitment best practices and policies. I’m responsible for providing leadership, training, support and guidance around internships to members of the Career Center’s community including employers, staff, faculty, students and alumni.Additionally, I work on curriculum development and administrative oversight of the Careers Internship Program and the corresponding course. In addition to keeping the curriculum up to date, I also evaluate and track course progress through our learning management system (LMS). Show less

I was tasked with organizing and executing multi-day New Student Orientation events for 7,000 students annually. I annually recruited, on-boarded, trained, and supervised a staff of 60 into a variety of roles to ensure our large programs ran smoothly. As part of the planning process I coordinated stakeholder meetings and communication between campus leaders from 25+ departments to ensure buy-in and a common vision. To ensure programs and staff were performing to expectations, I assessed program effectiveness and staff development through regular reviews of program and staff goals. To ensure consistent and appropriate training, I created course curriculum and intensive training programs for the students I supervised to ensure top notch customer services and that they gained and maintained the skills, knowledge, and abilities required to find success in their roles. Additionally, I spearheaded new initiatives to grow campus engagement through development of a mentorship program, leadership recognition program, and a four day traditions retreat. Show less
