Ethos is a subsidiary of Cydcor (the campaign manager for independently owned sales offices). The sales system they use for Century Link, Verizon, DirectTV, etc. is quintessentially capitalistic and highly effective. I learned a lot in my short time with the company. I learned direct sales techniques, how to create systematic growth, and the power of positive organizational culture. I elicited donations from friends and alumni of Colorado State University to support program initiatives. Our team of 15 would typically make 2,000-5,000 dollars a night. In a 3.5 hour shift I would make an average of 150 calls with a 12% pledge rate. My gross earnings for CSU was a little over 40,000. For internship credit I wrote news stories and editorials related to CSU research programs and other community policies. I was the political and community beat reporter for the CSU community. I liked to be creative with my topics and analysis in order to entertain the audience. I wrote news stories about mind control research, DUI enforcement laws, police body cameras, the impact of legalized marijuana, the city ban on fracking, traffic cameras, student health insurance, hemp research, tuition expenses, etc...

I facilitated group deliberations of 6-8 people to uncover underlying values and divergent alternative thoughts about polarizing issues that affected the community. I facilitated deliberations on senior transportation issues in Fort Collins, agriculture in northern Colorado, national energy policy, and democracy in America. The CPD's method is a new approach on community development and I believe it is a great way to enhance a community.
