Chris Hopper was the relationship lead when we put out the RFP and then closed a contract that took our charity to the next level. His thoroughness in the initial client meeting enabled me to feel confident in bringing to Chris any problem or challenge that I had and knew that he would work with us to solve it and find an opportunity to turn a negative into a positive. The question I remember best: "How would you like to hear about bad news?". Chris listened, heard and delivered on this when it mattered. Chris expertly led our team through the process to identify our uniqueness in the space of Canadian charities that support military members and their families. With Chris' direction, we cemented an in-kind advertising opportunity that was without compare for our first annual event in the fall of 2015. Chris has shown again and again his willingness to go above and beyond what is expected, to deliver excellent customer service. I would recommend Chris without reservation..

Chris Hopper is the epitome of Advertising. From the day I met Chris, I could tell that advertising, brands and creativity were coursing through his blood. He lives for the problem and he strives for the best idea. Chris’s passion for ideation and creative problem solving stopped at nothing until his client received the best ideas. Although a young-ish guy in Advertising, Chris has always come across as more mature, wiser and more strategic than some that have been in the industry well past their expiry date. Chris is a pleasure to work with, he thinks through every possible solution, is extremely creative and a great people manager.

I joined Republic to build a Strategic Brand Marketing Agency - from the ground up. With a disciplined focus on Brand Strategy & Storytelling, we developed and executed strategic marketing plans to build brands across industries. Leading brand strategy for all of our Clients, I conducted several custom research initiatives, developed unique market positioning, authored communication plans, and led creative development for various brands - including Muskoka Brewery, Starbucks, The Stronach Group, Everest Funeral Concierge and Canada Company. On the sports marketing side, I worked closely with TSN/Bell Media to create a custom, proprietary broadcast event for our Everest Client in 2017 - The Everest Curling Challenge. This included identifying business objectives, partnering with TSN to broadcast the event, co-developing a unique competition format made for TV, and working with a local host committee to execute everything from tickets to sponsorship to merchandise. I also worked closely with Curling Canada to enhance the activation of Everest's title partnership of an annual Season of Champions event. Show less

How do you sell an iconic Canadian coffee and donut shop south of the border? Strip out the Canadian identity and throw in an intense QSR competitive climate. Now find a way to develop a unique voice and proposition that would thrive in a shrinking market. That was the challenge I was tasked with when I was asked to lead and build a team at J. Walter Thompson that would help grow the Tim Hortons US business. Building a team from the ground up, we had to reset our brand mindset and consumer empathy, every single day. Based in Toronto, we would experience one brand as a consumer, yet work on a very different brand as professionals. This was our challenge, but we never wavered in our abilities to thrive within it. We developed a disciplined approach to building our US brand identity and voice, bringing much-needed focus and problem-solving to both the marketing plan and communications.Working directly with the Senior Marketing team in the US, I provided strategic support that would help shape the brand and impact its performance. This included the development of brand positioning, media planning and recommendations, as well as a stubborn commitment to enhancing our focus and execution in all of our communications. And it worked. The US business would see double-digit growth in same-store sales, including a run of four straight high-growth quarters. This after experiencing several quarters of flat or declining sales.
