A'aeshah is a dedicated research assistant who is not afraid of hard work. Her current work in my research lab shows at least two major indicators that she would excel in a career in Computer Science or Human-Computer Interaction. Specifically, her ability to: (1) Contribute to Research Inquiries and Lead Implementation Work in Multi-Disciplinary Research Teams, (2) Lead User Studies and Foster Collaborations. A'aeshah has been a very attentive and reliable research assistant: she never skipped a meeting, and she always actively contributed to the discussion –including providing constructive feedback on the work of her fellow students. She works in an extremely multi-disciplinary setting, collaborating with fellow researchers from Human-Computer Interaction, Data Science, and Psychology. Part of the work that we do in my lab involves designing and implementing interactive installations that people can control with gestures and body movements. I am impressed with A'aeshah’s interpersonal skills, which she draws upon to interact with people during user studies, and to foster collaborations beyond the campus. A'aeshah can also greatly contribute to the diversity of traditional CS work environments, because of her experience doing computer science in a still male-dominated field, and because of her multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural work and background.

A'aeshah took my graduate course on programming languages. This course, due to its abstract and demanding nature, is perceived as a difficult one by students. She did well in the class. Her group project in that class was related to a study of various parallel programming paradigms.
