  My initial role at PRO IV Systems was that of analyst developer working on the back office business travel system known as TravelPro. Before long I was promoted through the ranks of Team Leader… Project Manager... Development Manager... and then Development & Support Manager. During this time I was responsible for a team of PROIV analysts, developers and support staff, delivering software releases to the Travel Product into clients such as Thomas Cook, Omega Travel, ATD and Travelstore. I implemented a number of strategies to improve product features, stability and performance which included: Change management procedures Structured software release schedule Secure software version control Structured software testing processes Implementation templates Pro-active system maintenance procedures Disaster and recovery improvements Fault reporting templates Improved customer service The Travelpro software and client base was eventually sold to Whistlebrook Ltd.   I initially joined Mansfield Brewery as a computer operator in a team of 5. Very quickly I was promoted to EPOS implementer and travelled the north of England installing EPOS equipment in the breweries estate of Public Houses and Restaurants. This involved installing EPOS tills behind the bar, restaurant printers in the kitchens and back office PC's in the living quarters. I then connected the EPOS kit and AWPs (fruit machines) to the back office PC, installed the latest software release and tested to ensure all was working. Once the majority of the estate had been installed I was promoted again to the development team and was the key analyst for a major project for a new all encompassing EPOS system. Following SSADM a sophisticated and detailed design was completed within 12 months after which the development phase was short, swift and successfully delivered within 4 months. During the development phase of this project I was a key member of the PRO-IV development team. The replacement EPOS system was then successfully implemented in over 80 Public Houses and 15 restaurants and ran remarkably well with very few initial teething issues. My role was then divided between training/installations/development. I left the brewery to move south and further my development career at the software house PRO-IV Systems. Show less

The role consisted of the general duties of a Computer Operator at the time including disk backup and recovery, overseeing large batch jobs and trouble shooting when necessary, providing first line support to office staff and running routine maintenance jobs. Although I was based in the Alfreton IT Centre, I frequently travelled to London and Bristol to cover for holidays.
