Wendy Russell was my delightfully engaging and extraordinarily professional colleague at Lakeside School for more than 15 years. From time to time I relied on Wendy's exacting management of projects, but our paths crossed most often in our casual morning greetings or when, at wits end, I careened into administrative offices to seek guidance on school policies as they pertained to doing my job better. Wendy knew her stuff and never hesitated to lend a hand, even while my requests invariably interrupted her consummate, on-task focus. For several years Wendy promoted and coordinated the Faculty-Staff Academy, our school's community building exchange of talent, knowledge and passion. Each year's FSA was launched with a pep rally style introduction of courses to be offered and Wendy was usually the up front mistress of ceremonies. Willing to stick her neck out to pump-up enthusiasm, Wendy would not just announce offerings, she composed poetry, performed in skits, and on one occasion soloed a sultry rendition of FSA lyrics to the tune of "Fever" that brought the house down. Wendy's creativity and dedication to the school over her 15 years helped to make the offices, projects, and community a more efficient and joyful place to be.

I had the good fortune of working with Wendy for several years, and her professionalism, efficiency, and attention to detail are unparalleled. She manages incredible complexity with apparent ease, and quickly adapts to unfamiliar systems and situations -- all with a smile on her face. Any office, regardless of complexity, could quickly become a well-oiled machine with Wendy on board, and I'm quite glad I was able to work with her.
