Performed multi-step organic chemistry synthesis (mg to multigram scale) of small molecules and bioisosteres. Synthesized Spirokit compounds (eg. bicycloalkane and spirocyclic derivatives) for catalogue database, internal R&D, DEL, and FFS projects. Developed diverse drug-like small molecules and modified natural products for FTE-based contractual med-chem project (bioassay development and testing) under the supervision of project leader. Carried out bottom-up synthesis technique of 2D metal oxide nanosheets from solution, templated and directed self-assembly of surfactant monolayers at water/air interfaces using ionic layer epitaxial (ILE) growth process. Investigated and characterized the formation of single crystal triangular or hexagonal nanosheets using different transition metals. Developed a technology platform for laser marking of identification products using laser-ablation and intrinsic color-changing pigments on polyester and polyamide facesheets. Examined the efficacy of pigment types, pigment loading level, and coating thickness to produce a bright contrasting mark, resulting in optimized print quality at small font sizes that have durability and resistance. Designed experiments to understand the effects of numerous laser diode array print settings on print quality and contrast of new laser-markable materials including laser power, delay time, and raster speed. Identified suitable formulations and compositions to produce fast, high resolution laser marking of labels for product ID including development and testing strategies to satisfy performance requirements. Tested alternate catalysts for urethane crosslinking in topcoats to improve print quality and durability of thermal heat transfer (THT) printed labels. Show less
