John brings incredible energy and enthusiasm to any team he works in. Working with him at Rice has allowed me to witness how quickly things can get done well with a "just do it" attitude and positive mindset. Paired with his positive mentality is his eloquencey and structured thinking that pervades his work writing, document style, and presentations. This makes him very persuasive in any business case he places forward. I would highly recommend him to any position requiring fine crafted speech and business sense (e.g., consulting).

I had the privilege to work with John as a teammate in the HSBC Business Case Competition 2020 and also for our final semester’s core business unit where John portrayed high quality skills in teamwork, leadership, analytical and communication. John is a considerate and humble team member during discussions as he does open the floor for others to speak and contribute as well. He is also highly skilled in analysing critical situations in which he is able to thoroughly analyse a situation and/or crisis, and generate high quality ideas/resolutions for the team. John exerts utmost confidence in the rightful things and is humble to admit defeat whenever mistakes occur. Importantly, he always takes the initiative to ask and learn from feedbacks from any situations, and strive to improve and better himself for future undertakings. I’m certain that John will definitely be an impactful person and contribute well to wherever he goes.

As brand manager for Lifebuoy, I was tasked to grow one of Unilever's oldest and largest brands by turnover. Over the course of the 10 months I led the brand: 1. Lifebuoy saw +2% USG with our body wash format seeing +6% USG in 2021 2. Lifebuoy overtook our closest Malaysian competitor Dettol to become the #1 skin cleansing brand in Malaysia, with the brand seeing a +110bps share gain in 2021 as compared to the previous year Alongside driving performance, I also led the brand's mission of saving lives through developing a Lifebuoy Public Service Announcement Campaign, an initiative to help Malaysians adapt to #LifeZamanSekarang i.e., the new normal of living in a post-pandemic Malaysia. Through this initiative: 1. We partnered with TV and radio talents Nazrudin Rahman and Siow Hui Mei to remind Malaysians to practice SOPs as Malaysia began to reopen its economy 2. We collaborated with a host of social media influencers to encourage Malaysians to practice good hygiene habits while also sharing how they are adapting their lifestyles to the new normal. Finally, to ensure the brand's continued performance, I facilitated an internal workshop to brainstorm new growth strategies for our Lifebuoy hand wash format, alongside presenting Lifebuoy's upcoming 2022 brand plans to our retail partners. As part of Team Connect.ED, an initiative to help B40 students access e-learning in a world of COVID, closed schools and rapid digitalisation, our team worked to equip our students with refurbished second-hand laptops. With this in mind, we ran a Dream Digital campaign with our students which saw us creating a line of student-designed tote bags for sale to the public. Over the course of 3 months, we managed to: • Raise RM993 in profits through our Dream Digital programme • Raise RM430 in donations to refurbish laptops and sustain business operations • Receive 7 donated laptops for refurbishing and donation to our student beneficiaries At the conclusion of YLA 2020, we were also recognised as 1st Runner Up's in the programme.
