Ashwin was my best buddy, when we were together at PGIMER, Chandigarh for 4 years. I know him very well. He is extremely talented, hard working and superb in his skills and knowledge of Neonatology. He is a very good orator and had in depth knowledge of his speciality. He has been constant source of research ideas for me. He is also a very good reader and reviewer of Journal articles, blogs. I am really impressed with his career graph. I wish that I would be able to work with him.

Dr. Charusheela Korday

Dr. Ashwin is one of the very few doctors with rare combination of excellent clinical skills and clear thinking. I found him quite hard working with an eye for detail. His passion towards teaching easily makes him a favorite, amongst both junior as well as senior colleagues. His remarkable computational skills, also come in very handy. With his extensive work in implementing quality improvement measures, while working at NICU, he brought about major transformation in the functioning of our unit. I, along with the whole unit, would like to wish him the very best in all his future endeavours. Dr. Charusheela Korday, Associate Professor, Department of Pediatrics, Division of Neonatology, T.N.M.C. & B.Y.L. Nair Hospital.

Neonatal Unit (NICU) at UHS, one of the largest in the country, is a supra regional, tertiary care referral unit in South England. It provides extensive range of specialist paediatric services in neonatal medicine and surgery. I work in this unit as Senior Specialist Registrar, Neonatology. My usual work day includes taking clinical ward rounds, and formulating a plan of management for the babies, in discussion with Consultant. I regularly carry out teaching in addition to providing leadership and guidance for medical students and other medical colleagues (SHO, Nursing, unit academic teaching). I provide consultation for babies referred from the community or from other hospitals, in keeping with the unit protocols. I counsel distressed parents, before and during the admission of their baby in our unit. I see to it that the patient's notes are complete with regards to documentation, investigations, other specialist consultations etc. I carry out myself and teach others, complex, invasive medical procedures in the neonates admitted within the unit. Southampton being one of the very few centers for children’s Cardiac surgery in UK, I routinely manage babies with complex congenital or acquired heart diseases. The unit being the referral center for babies requiring Therapeutic Hypothermia (Whole Body Cooling) following perinatal asphyxia, I have good experience in managing such babies. I also attend complicated deliveries and Cesarean sections. I perform neonatal Cranial Ultrasound. The robust academic teaching program in the unit keeps me updated. I am one of the lead researcher in a current study, within our unit. I attend various regional and national research meetings regularly, so as to keep abreast of the latest development in Neonatal medicine.

While working as Consultant in Paediatrics department here, my job included a large mix duties. During my stay here for almost 21 months, I worked mostly in Division of Neonatology. While working in Neonatology Unit, I carried out various teaching and research activities, in addition to providing leadership capabilities to my junior colleagues in managing new born babies. I carried out Audit which involved compiling and analyzing annual data in our Neonatal Unit, and then based on the findings, bringing about the desired change in the Unit protocols or practices, after discussing with other faculty members. While at NICU, I was instrumental in introducing Electronic Medical Records for our neonatal patients. I worked for a short period in General Pediatrics and PICU as well. Here too, in addition to managing patients I took active interest in teaching and research activities. Administrative responsibilities: 1. Preparing daily On-call rota for all Assistant Professors, Pediatrics. 2. Successfully conducted Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS, Nashik) MBBS Examination, May '12. 3. Carried out the basic foundation work for initiating, MUHS recognized, Neonatology and Pediatric Intensive Care Fellowship program.

Pediatric Centre at PGIMER Chandigarh, India's premier medical institution, is an apex multispecialty unit. While working in this unit and under the able leadership of Dr Sunit Singhi, I gained immense and almost unmatched experience in learning intricate details of delivering pediatric care. In addition to managing various pediatric patients, my duties were teaching, research, and supervision of my junior colleagues.
