I had the privilege of training with MSgt Roberts while we were both stationed in Okinawa. He had such a breath and depth of knowledge of the material that it flowed through him and you could easily see how passionate he was about the subject. He taught not just the how but the why. He brought in knowledge from different sources to give me a deeper understanding of what I was doing and why I was learning it. The most important part for me, was his ability to match his teaching technique to my learning style. It meant that he instinctively understood how to approach the subject with me, the individual, in mind. This is a skill that is not taught but he developed it and it made my learning experience meaningful, which has, six months later, helped me remember everything he taught me.
