I had the brief pleasure of working with Fred at Altair Integrated Services. I would hire him again in a heartbeat. Fred is capable of learning new tools and technologies and delivering real value from what he has learned at an impressive pace. He is thorough and continually in pursuit of excellence with an unwavering focus on the customer. He takes great pride in delivering excellence. Fred has an engaging and friendly personality with a great sense of humor. His presence always shines light when things look bleak. I hope to have the opportunity to work with Fred again soon as he has a wealth of knowledge, intelligence and capability that is perfect for the rising prominence of advanced analytics and AI. I would be honored to provide a reference for Fred. Feel free to call me at 908-821-3079.

Fred easily absorbs new knowledge, regardless of whether it is JavaScript, Java or PHP. He easily and quickly handles the understanding of advanced programming material. He is very involved in what he does by proposing constructive improvements and corrections.

I first met Fred as a coworker at the Khan Academy 4 or 5 years ago. I was immediately impressed by his deep knowledge of mathematics and his all-encompassing positive attitude. Fred's attention to quality and detail in his work had tremendous benefits for the company and his coworkers. Three months ago, Fred approached me with an interest in learning JavaScript. Fred had prior experience with programming but little knowledge of JavaScript. I agreed to mentor Fred, not by teaching him but by checking up on his progress and making sure he was on the right track. Fred surprised me with his ability to tackle new concepts in record time. Fred found a textbook on JavaScript and began teaching himself. He started with the basic building blocks of syntax and moved on to advanced concepts, including variable scope, closures, hoisting, event handlers, and all topics in and around the object-oriented approach. I gave Fred three mock interviews in the space of a few weeks, and Fred’s proficiency improved with each one. By the last mock interview, Fred proved to me that he would be a valuable asset to any team working in JavaScript. Not only did he learn the material, he identified errors in the textbook. He didn't just get the general idea, but deeply understood the underlying concepts; this, in my experience, is the ability most highly correlated with a programmer's success.
