I have worked with Carmen Rogers for several years, in her capacity managing financial operations and human resources at the Atlantic Philanthropies. We met as colleagues while I was at Atlantic, where her combination of skills, smarts and commitment made her one of the most popular and valued colleagues. When I left AP to start the Atlantic Fellows for Racial Equity, I reached out for her help in conceptualising and helping us to develop a financial model for our work. As a transnational programme based at Columbia University and the Nelson Mandela Foundation, financial operations require a great deal of knowledge and sophistication. Carmen’s work with us has been critical to establishing effective budgeting and reporting procedures. But more broadly, she has served as a sounding board on staffing and human resource decisions. She is thoughtful, careful and always ready to lend a helping hand. In short, she is a treasure!

Carmen and I worked together in several different capacities, initially as colleagues at The Atlantic Philanthropies and most recently as a client. Carmen is one of the most dedicated and driven people I have worked with. She has a brilliant mind for systems and operational processes. She naturally thinks of the most effective and efficient ways of operating and then has the follow-through to implement it. She is a curious and well-rounded professional, which enhances every role she has taken on. She is organized and thorough, creative and innovative, and a compassionate colleague. She is a strong leader because she can balance the big picture with the details. I highly recommend her for any COO or head of operations roles. She has deep experience and knowledge in finance, HR, IT, administration, and grantmaking systems.
