My work placement experience at Golfbreaks was a large factor in me being offered the job and I was attracted by the opportunity to work in sales. I was placed in the European Sales department mainly dealing with clients looking to travel to Spain and Portugal. At this stage we had a very small team of sales agents and due to the fledgling nature of the company, our responsibilities were varied and extensive. As I had a limited knowledge of the region I was selling, I had to familiarise myself with our major venues and develop relationships with sales and commercial directors at these venues. We were also required to negotiate contracts, incentives and unique selling points with each venue as the company did not have a dedicated product management team in place. From holding only a small sector of the market when I started, Your golf Travel steadily grew and our sales increased at a very positive rate. During my time with the company, YourGolfTravel grew from a small disruptor in the market to being undisputed market leader in 2014. Show less

During my time with the company, I became an integral part of the customer service team, dealing with a range of responsibilities including, customer complaints, amending bookings, negotiating with venues and making sure all aspects of the customer experience were satisfactory. This role gave me an insight into the travel and tourism industry. This role also gave me my first insight into telephone sales and also the golf tourism industry. My ability to understand the concerns of our customers and deal effectively with their requests was often noted by senior management. Show less
