In November 2011 I set up Individual Support Solutions Ltd with my business partner Alison Malcolm. We now have over 90 staff and support over 100 people with learning disabilities each week across our services. We have two Day Services that operate in Nuneaton and Rugby. From these services we offer building based activities and community support 7 days a week. We have three Community Wellbeing Hub services that operate in Atherstone, Nuneaton and Rugby. These services are commissioned by Warwickshire County Council and provide information, advice and guidance for people with learning disabilities, their families and carers and also for professionals such as Social Workers. We provide Supported Living services across the North of Warwickshire where we support people in their own homes from 10 hours per week up to 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Show less

Team Leader

Apr 2011 - Sep 2012
Managing Day Services for people with learning disabilities during a time of significant change. Leading a team of 20 staff to support 65 people with learning disabilities to go through a consultation process, and understand and manage change that resulted in the closure of the Service in September 2012, in line with Warwickshire County Councils 'Fulfilled Lives' Strategy. A key part of my role was to ensure our customers and their families and carers were supported to understand and manage the changes that were taking place, alongside supporting staff to stay motivated to deliver a quality service when many were being made redundant. Deputy Manager of a Day Service for over 100 people with learning disabilities, and managing a staff team of over 20 people. My main role was to introduce significant changes to the service in line with the Government White Paper 'Valuing People' 2007. My brief was to find alternative smaller venues located in the heart of peoples communities where we could support small groups of people with learning disabilities to learn and develop skills, to lead more independent lives within their own communities. Leading the staff team to understand the principals of 'Valuing People' and translate these principals into the way they supported people with learning disabilities.During the time I also had lead responsibility for promoting Good News stories across Adult Social Care Services in Warwickshire. My role included finding positive stories, putting a press release together with a relevant photo and sending them to the local press. I had a good success rate in terms of getting articles published and raising the profile of Adult Social Care Services in Warwickshire. Show less
