Originally part of the Warner Bros Group, but recently sold and renamed as VUE, the chain had approximately 20 multi screen cinemas across the UK and Ireland and was in the top 3 providers in their market. My main responsibilities in this role were to take a hands on operational management role in the day to day running of a multi million pound leisure facility, whilst also providing a significant input into the various management functions required to ensure the smooth running of the facility. Main Achievements Promoted three times in three years, starting as Trainee Manager in 1998 at the Watford site and promoted to Deputy General Manager at the new Portsmouth site in 2000. Managed circa 40 members of staff, being responsible for areas such as recruitment, disciplinary issues, work/rota scheduling, motivation and training. Responsible for Stock Management with in the facility and reduced loses from 2% to under 1.25% of total concession sales by implementing new stock controls and processes. Negotiated various marketing events to promote the facility and film releases with other local business with minimal budget. Heavily involved in the opening of two brand new facilities and responsible for liaising with construction staff and helping plan and implement relevant process and procedures to ensure the cinemas opened on time and successfully.
