As one of two territory PR Managers in the ‘South’ region at English Heritage I was responsible for promoting and driving visitors to the charity’s historic properties in London, East Anglia and the South East. Properties included eight of English Heritage’s ‘top 20’ sites such as Dover Castle, the Battle of Hastings Abbey and Battlefield and Audley End House & Gardens. Highlights include securing BBC One’s Antiques Roadshow to record episodes at Eltham Palace & Gardens in Greenwich and Wrest Park in Bedfordshire in 2018; developing a story about the unlikely YouTube success of a Victorian Cook which achieved a raft of national and regional coverage; and working with the national PR team to colourise a series of WW1 photographs - a story which generated 40 pieces of coverage including BBC Breakfast, ITV News, Countryfile Diaries and ITV Anglia along with a number of national and regional print pieces.

    • PR Manager, London & East
      • Jun 2016 - Mar 2018

I was responsible for managing PR and communications for the charity’s properties in East Anglia, the East Midlands and London, including Framlingham Castle, Bolsover Castle and Wrest Park. My role covered everything from day-to-day PR activity and press office management, to the development and delivery of strategic communications plans and reputation management. One of my biggest highlights was developing and delivering a successful PR and social media campaign about the installation of a temporary slide at Framlingham Castle in 2017. Coverage included pieces by ITV Anglia, BBC News Online, The Sun travel and both local newspapers. The PR coverage along with conversation on social media attracted 5,000 visitors to Framlingham Castle during February half term week – unprecedented numbers for the time of year.I also managed the launch of two festive ‘illuminated’ events at properties in Essex and London in 2017 (the first year of the events) and again 2018. Regional broadcast news crews reported live from the opening of both events in 2017 and 2018 and Time Out and the Londonist also covered both of the London events. National and local press photographers and local bloggers/influencers attended the opening nights for both events in both years, resulting in a wide variety of print, online and digital coverage.
