Intern role as an IT Specialist within UKI TEC Client Centre based in IBM Hursley. This involved close work with both IBM and external clients in order to set up demonstrations of IBM software. My day-to-day tasks involved configuring both Windows and Linux images on both IBM servers and local machines. The configuration of the images is always specific to a client's needs, therefore, communication with my client was absolutely essential to make sure the customer is satisfied. I am skilled in the use of Remote Desktop Manager (and Connection), VSphere Client, VMWare Workstation, Filezilla and VNC Server Viewer along with extended knowledge of Windows OS configurations and several Linux OS systems (Gnome, Ubuntu and Redhat). I have worked very closely with other large companies for specific project work called PoCs (Proof of Concept) including American Express, Asda, Nationwide, Cisco and Specsavers. Both software, firmware and hardware upgrades were also part of my role including extended server upgrading and racking. Gained much experience in networking through creating secure network paths onto specific images for customers. I was also responsible for ensuring that the customer accounts are secure and that they cannot access anything other than their specific image. Improved knowledge of logistics and working closely with postal services due to sending laptops, servers, iPads or other sensitive content across to other IBM/customer locations. Show less
