This is been a great opportunity for me to fulfill my purpose for providing support/care for individuals with disabilities and assisting them in finding value/self-worth. I have assisted my clients by teaching basic life/job/social skills; coordinating care for medical/behavioral needs; advocating for each client’s rights; and assisting them in living an independent life. Throughout my career, I earned recognition for my dedicated work ethic, reliability, ability to proactively solve problems, commitment to providing the highest quality care, willingness to train/develop other caregivers, and speaking out to support the rights of clients. • Demonstrated adaptability through working with clients with dual diagnoses and severe mental illness and intellectual disabilities including chronic nonprogressive disorder, autism, Down syndrome, ADHD, intellectual disorders due to brain injury, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, dissociative disorder, PTSD, as well as clients that were blind, deaf, and nonverbal. • Optimized quality of life for my clients through meal preparation; assistance with hygiene, dressing, cleaning, and housekeeping; appointment setting; assistance with running errands; providing transportation for medical visits or social outings; and providing emotional support. • Extensively involved in monitoring and recording changes, regression, or improvements in mental and physical health status of clients using THERAP electronic records software for daily documentation. • Gained experience providing 24/7 one-on-one care for several years for a non-verbal client with chronic nonprogressive brain disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder, and seizure disorder. Held previous responsibility for providing care in homes for up to 3 clients simultaneously. • Established reputation for ability to work well with clients who had violent behavior histories and for success in de-escalating situations where clients had become violent and harmed themselves or caregivers.
