The purpose of the study was to determine whether patients experiencing dengue fever should be monitored on a 2-hour or 3-hour basis in accordance with their likelihood of reaching the dengue hemorrhagic fever stage (with major plasma leakage and dehydration). This will aid the benefit of maintaining adequate hydration levels for patients entering the ER with dengue fever (mostly children aged 12 to 18).
