      BRAC is the top ranked global NGO based in Dhaka. It takes a holistic approach to ending poverty with diverse interventions that covers microfinance, education, healthcare, gender justice and empowerment reaching millions of people across 13 countries. I worked as a Staff Researcher in the Development Economics Research Unit of RED and my regular responsibilities included conducting research, developing and testing research protocol, training enumerators, supervising field survey; data collection and analysis, and drafting reports. Assisted in conducting a study on informal apprenticeship in Bangladesh commissioned by ILO and drafted a report on Baseline Study on Informal Apprenticeship in Five Priority Sectors in Bangladesh including Agro-food processing, Furniture, Ceramics, Pharmaceuticals and Tourism.       Worked on the research project 'Micro-Narratives on Pro-Poor Trade' led by UNDP Bangladesh and and implemented in partnership with the Department of Development Studies at the University of Dhaka. Participated in a month long rigorous training process on narrative research to learn and practice ethnographic skills in field work, interviewing and report writing following qualitative methodology. Collected micro-narratives on pro-poor trade using ethnographic methods with marginalized market players by visiting several districts in Southern and Norther parts of Bangladesh. These narratives were included in a pilot UNDP database and analysed along with others to diagnose some of the complex constraints faced by the poorest market players in Bangladesh. Acquired practical experience in applying the narrative research method in applied development research and gained nuanced understanding of market constraints for poorest people and associated development challenges in Bangladesh. These narratives were included in a UNDP database and analysed to diagnose some of the complex constraints faced by the poorest market players in Bangladesh in a report titled “Stories from the Market: Inclusive Trade from the Bottom-Up.” Show less
