It takes a holistic approach to ending poverty with diverse interventions that covers microfinance, education, healthcare, gender justice and empowerment reaching millions of people across 13 countries. I worked as a Staff Researcher in the Development Economics Research Unit of RED and my regular responsibilities included conducting research, developing and testing research protocol, training enumerators, supervising field survey; data collection and analysis, and drafting reports. Assisted in conducting a study on informal apprenticeship in Bangladesh commissioned by ILO and drafted a report on Baseline Study on Informal Apprenticeship in Five Priority Sectors in Bangladesh including Agro-food processing, Furniture, Ceramics, Pharmaceuticals and Tourism. Completed a study on Self-employment and Enterprise Development in Agro-food and Furniture sectors in Bangladesh in collaboration with ILO. Attended several meetings with different stakeholders of Bangladesh Skills for Employment and Productivity (B-SEP) project and ILO country office for Bangladesh and assisted in the evaluation of Urban Street Children Programme and Skill Training for Advancing Resources (STAR) Programme of BRAC. Assisted in organizing a review workshop with Disaster, Environment and Climate Change (DECC) Programme and drafted a report on field visit to flash flood affected areas in Cox's Bazar. Assisted in designing the follow up survey of BRAC’s integrated development programme for dwellers in haor areas in north-eastern part of Bangladesh. Assisted in organizing expert roundtables and writing reports on Poverty, Food Security, Nutrition and Agriculture for Bangladesh Priorities Project in collaboration with Copenhagen Consensus Center. YouthWalk Bangladesh is a non-profit and non-partisan youth organization aiming to drive positive social change through sustainable development. I co-founded this organization on September 6, 2013 along with other graduates of Building Bridges through Leadership Training (BBLT) 9, the signature leadership-training program of Bangladesh Youth Leadership Center (BYLC). During my two years term when I led the organization, I contributed to implementing award-wining projects on educating slum children to raise their skills and future employability receiving grants from US Department of States Bureau for Education and Cultural Affairs and Davis Project for Peace 2015. Also successfully fund-raised and organized a number of campaigns on pre-primary education, health and awareness among slum dwellers in Dhaka City. Show less

Student Researcher at Pro-Poor Trade Peoject

Worked on the research project 'Micro-Narratives on Pro-Poor Trade' led by UNDP Bangladesh and and implemented in partnership with the Department of Development Studies at the University of Dhaka. Participated in a month long rigorous training process on narrative research to learn and practice ethnographic skills in field work, interviewing and report writing following qualitative methodology. Collected micro-narratives on pro-poor trade using ethnographic methods with marginalized market players by visiting several districts in Southern and Norther parts of Bangladesh. These narratives were included in a pilot UNDP database and analysed along with others to diagnose some of the complex constraints faced by the poorest market players in Bangladesh. Acquired practical experience in applying the narrative research method in applied development research and gained nuanced understanding of market constraints for poorest people and associated development challenges in Bangladesh. These narratives were included in a UNDP database and analysed to diagnose some of the complex constraints faced by the poorest market players in Bangladesh in a report titled “Stories from the Market: Inclusive Trade from the Bottom-Up.” Show less

The Unnayan Onneshan (UO) is an independent multidisciplinary think-tank based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. I worked in Social and Economic Policy Unit as research assistant. Conducted survey of historical literature on transformation of Bangladesh economy in relation to its state of capital formation and industrialization.
