QA Engineer
-
Jun 2016 - Sep 2019
Through consultancy, I ended up at Xillio as a QA Engineer. Initially just for functional testing the Xill IDE and the scripting language Xill that I, as a consultant, used on a daily basis. Since Xillio started developing an application (the Xillio Engine) to connect (ECM, WCM) content management systems (through connectors), my activities changed from purely functional testing to automated testing. The Xillio Engine is an API written in Java. This API we test with our test suite we wrote in RestAssured and TestNG to test our connectors automated and in a unified fashion. On top of the API we are creating a frontend in Javascript (with React). After researching frontend testing frameworks (Selenium, Cucumber, Nightwatchjs, Cypress) we choose Cypress to use as our framework. The main reason for this choice was the fact that Cypress does not need Selenium, JVM or an external browser to run the tests. Because of that, Cypress perfectly fits our (Jenkins) CI.

For Firmhouse and Red Factory I have been setting up a netwerk by designing a userfriendly web site which brings together Web Designers and Web Developers to share their knowledge and to contact them with customers. This site is userfriendly because I have based it on Jesse James Garret's book 'the Element of User Experience' to keep the focus on the user while I was designing the web site.
