  Lachlan approached me initially to assist with connecting his website to the Australian Government PPSR web service (http://ppsr.gov.au) and led to the completion of this project, allowing his site to provide vehicle history searches on payment from visitors. The project consisted of 1) upgrading Joomla from 1.5 to 2.5, 2) creating a new template and reinstating the design back into it 3) repairing broken links and modules (banner ads and articles weren't displaying) 4) completing the connection to the payment gateway (eWay) and PPSR 5) building and integrating the purchase process and administration area The purchase process includes queuing functionality as the PPS register often has (scheduled) outages, requiring delayed processing and querying of PPSR itself. The project was completed after hours during week days with almost daily emails between myself and Lachlan communicating on what had been achieved and what would be achieved next.   My first task as a junior web developer involved converting a static 300+ page HTML site (http://www.adinstruments.com) from using font tags to css stylesheets so that visitors could print a customised page off of the ADInstruments web site. This also involved converting the site to utilise include files for the headers, menu's and footer, at first with SSI then with PHP3. A passion for search engine optimisation grew in this process, resulting in acquiring top position on Google and Yahoo for 'data acquisition systems' and first page positions for a number of other priority key phrases. As statistics were more important (and Google Analytics had taken a great foot hold on the industry) I developed a log file processing script to process web site access log files and record the monthy pages hit counts in a MySQL database.
