As a Technical Analyst at Edith Cowan University (ECU), I am responsible for facilitating the effective operation of the University's enterprise infrastructure. This includes on premise and cloud servers, storage and network systems. The role involves working with other members of the Infrastructure team, IT staff and third-party vendors to deliver resilient, high performing and highly available systems and associated services to the University staff and students. I work to develop, plan, design and provision infrastructure services to the University and its stakeholders. This requires an in-depth understanding of the University’s technical architectures across server, storage, voice and data networks. Within the Infrastructure team we are jointly responsible for the protection of University data and systems. I, along with the members of my team, achieve this through adhering to policies, standards and process documents. We work closely with the Information Security team and report any suspected breaches, vulnerabilities or other security issues. Duties include: • Managing and maintaining Azure cloud services and infrastructure. • Scripting and automating management tasks across servers and other infrastructure. • Managing DHCP and DNS (using InfoBlox). • Overseeing the ECU Active Directory domain. • Organising and maintaining backups and disaster recovery for ECU infrastructure. • Deploying infrastructure monitoring solutions across ECU. • Server provisioning and administration, application installation and maintenance. • Configuration and setup of new hardware. • Office 365 configuration and administration. • Supporting and troubleshooting business software and hardware as an escalation point for the Applications team.
