  Charles "Bosque" Forest grew up in rural Idaho in an intensely religious environment. He began painting at 14, using materials discarded by his house painter father.“Art offered a way to express my curiosity about spirituality and culture in a free, uninterrupted space.” His recent work consists of a series of large-scale paintings, including 40-foot-long panoramic canvases, populated with 1000 faces. Using trowels and industrial paint brushes along with more traditional “fine” artists’ tools, Bosque creates with latex, industrial coatings, and specially formulated edible paints, pigments, and inks made from food. Bosque experimented for months, devising a blue, from Thai peaberries, a yellow derived from banana and saffron.His work aims above all to foster a conscious sense of connectedness.“Everything good in my life comes from realizing I’m not alone,” he explains.“I’m constantly opening the door to participation through stimulation and contemplation. How does it feel to be whole? Every brush stroke is an invitation to be present and engage in a sense of ritual.”
