Responsibilities included: 1. In collaboration with the FPC provide direction for VLIR-IUC programme activities in terms of policy, academic and administrative matters 2. Liaise closely with MMU Senior Management to ensure their continuous support for the programme 3. Make sure that VLIR-IUC programme activities are continually aligned with MMU corporate and research strategic plans 4. In combination with the FPC and MMU and Flemish project leaders promote a culture of research/academic excellence and publication amongst staff members and postgraduate students 5. Chair UMC meetings 6. In collaboration with the Flemish Programme Coordinator and other VLIR-IUC programme participants oversee jointly drafted VLIR-IUC annual and other kinds of reports required by VLIR-UOS and other bodies 7. In collaboration with the FPC, oversee well-timed submission of documents/reports of the VLIR-IUC programme to VLIR-UOS via the Flemish Coordinator / UGent-ICOS / DPC 8. Monitor VLIR-IUC program finances and academic, research and community engagement progress made by the program as a whole and individual research projects in particular 9. In consultation with the FPC, decide on the need to affect changes in the budgets and other activities associated with individual projects to enhance project deliverables 10. Collaborate with the FPC in the organisation of JSC meetings 11. In collaboration with the FPC actively promote the identification of alternative funding opportunities, the submission of applications, and coordination between the funding agencies 12. Manage and direct the PM, other PSU staff members and Uganda project/cluster leaders 13. Foster capacity building, skills transfer and coaching to members of the PSU and VLIR-IUC project implementation teams. Show less
