  The NEA Organizing Fellowship Academy trains member leaders in the skills of organizing and advocating for educational professionals. While completing the one-year fellowship, I worked jointly with Uniserv Directors to gain hands-on experience in advocacy (bargaining contracts, representing members, etc.) and organizing locals in Berrien Springs, Michigan. This very competitive one-year experience (only 12 in the nation are selected each year for this fellowship) grows on my advocacy work as a member leader where I was co-chair of the Minority Affairs Committee and was a board member of the Indiana Political Action Committee for Education while I was a public school teacher.
