As Works Supervisor I am responsible for the completion of maintenance and upgrade projects of existing highway infrastructures (bridges, viaducts, tunnels, under passes, etc.) of 360 kms of A14 Highway (E55). I ensure that all works are compliant with both the Contractor’s obligations to the contracting authority (Autostrade per l’Italia S.p.A., autostrade.it) and also with the construction applicable standards and regulations. More in details within my current role I:• lead and coordinate all the technicians and staff assigned to the construction projects and prioritize key deliverables;• construction quality materials preliminary acceptance and on-going controls during work's progress;• technically and financially manage work contracts and all their related issues, i.e. contractor’s claims;• manage the works project plan, deploy corrective actions in order to ensure compliance with the contract general terms;• manage work design errors and work delivered items that are not compliant with the contract technical standards;• bear penal and civil liability for all my unit’s activities and relevant issues that might arise during and after works completion.Also, as Head Inspector, I lead the highway infrastructures’ technical inspections system which monitors the asset’s current conditions and highlights issues and required maintenance interventions. I am responsible for the planning and execution management of: routine inspections (every 3 months, from ground level), main inspections (every 1 to 5 years by close visual examination with platforms) and extraordinary inspections (in case of earthquakes or emergencies involving the structures stability or the users safety). Activities aimed at providing the client with full support in managing its road and motorway assets, as well as providing details on the current condition and highlighting any hazards or critical situations about the motorways structures.I perform the following kinds of inspections over viaducts, tunnels, overpasses and underpasses of 360 km A14 Bologna-Taranto motorway between the stations of Cattolica (RN) and Poggio Imperiale (FG):• routine inspection (every 3 months): performed from the ground level by feet;• principal inspections (every 1 up to 5 years depending by the nature and conditions of the structure): close visual examination, within touching distance, utilising suitable inspections techniques;• extraordinary inspection (when needed): in case of earthquakes or other emergencies involving the structures stability or the users safety (ex. traffic accidents, collisions by oversized vehicles or loads, etc).Use of the following means during principal and extraordinary inspections:• under-bridge access platform with 20+ meter long arms, which enable access from the roadway to the underside of bridges and viaducts;• platform for the linings of tunnels, overpasses and underpasses.All the inspections are followed by a reporting phase, different depending on which kind of inspection is perfomed, being a crucial part of the mainteinance service provided by the company, generally aimed to prioritize the rehabilitation intervention required by the network.
