My time at the UC-Biotech, CNC, focused on optimizing the OxoPlate technique which allows a high-throughput assessment of the lower cost associated to cellular oxygen uptake when compared to the Seahorse equipment. If the objective were achieved this technique could be used in two projects that exist in the laboratory of the MITOXT Research Group - MITOCHONDRIAL TOXICOLOGY AND EXPERIMENTAL THERAPEUTICS, led by Doctor Paulo Oliveira: the MitoBOOST project, in order to investigate the effect of modified antioxidants to target mitochondria as well as another project entitled "CamcelSTEM", which focuses on the role of tumour stem cell metabolism and in his resistance to therapies. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- A minha passagem pela UC-Biotech, CNC, teve enfoque na otimização da técnica OxoPlate, que permite avaliar de uma forma "high-throughput" o consumo de oxigénio celular com menor custo associado, quando comparado com o equipamento Seahorse. Caso o objetivo fosse concretizado, esta técnica poderia vir a ser usada em dois dos projectos que existem no laboratório do Grupo de Investigação MITOXT - TOXICOLOGIA MITOCONDRIAL E TERAPÊUTICA EXPERIMENTAL, liderado pelo Doutor Paulo Oliveira: o projeto MitoBOOST, de modo a investigar o efeito de antioxidantes modificados para serem dirigidos à mitocôndria e outro projeto, entitulado "CamcelSTEM", que foca o papel do metabolismo de células estaminais tumorais na sua resistência a terapias.
