Chief Copy Editor
-
Sep 2019 - Feb 2021
As Chief Copy Editor of The Mirror, I worked to improve my editing skills, as well as my communication and organization. Each week I read every article that we would publish in the coming issue. I largely focused on grammatical issues, as well as making sure that the writing followed the rules of AP style. However, I did get some opportunities to make suggestions on content and style as well. I had to sign off on articles before the Editor-in-Chief could approve the pieces for layout, which required me to focus on time management and prioritizing to ensure that the process went as smoothly as possible, completed by our deadline.

I had the opportunity to work on one of Dr. Emily Orlando's projects, as she was a professor of mine for a couple of semesters. Alongside another peer and Edith Wharton scholar, I worked on annotating some of the final chapters of "The Decoration of Houses" by Edith Wharton and Ogden Codman Jr. I had the opportunity to work on one of Dr. Emily Orlando's projects, as she was a professor of mine for a couple of semesters. Academic Intern
-
Sep 2020 - Dec 2020
During this internship experience, I had the opportunity to meet weekly with a handful of students, one-on-one. We would discuss their academic progress, as well as any concerns they had and how they felt about their experience in school. This was a particularly impactful time to have this internship, as students were attending school in a hybrid fashion due to the coronavirus pandemic. This experience strengthened my communication skills as well because I had to keep guidance counsellors and parents updated on my conversations. Additionally, this was a great first experience working in a school and with the freedom to grow as a professional.
