Solvina India Private Limited, an Indian subsidiary of Solvina AB, is a leading energy consultation company which provides unique holistic approach to its customers in the field of steam and power production and utilization. I am currently employed as a Project and Systems Engineer in this company. I am working on a project which involves testing for Primary Frequency Response (PFR) of coal, hydro and gas units connected to Indian national grid. In this project, I am responsible for testing, model validation and documentation of the tested units. I was also involved in on-site projects at Solvina AB, Sweden. There, I received an opportunity to assist the Swedish team with their projects. I was involved in creation of documents required for performing performance tests at Wärtsilä Dresden and Wärtsilä Hastedt CHP plants in Germany. Furthermore, I was also involved in conducting Requirement for Generators (RfG) modelling and simulations of a newly built power plant unit at Metsä Pulp and Paper Board Husum, Sweden and wind farms in Norra Länsmansberget and Fryksdalhshöjden in Sunne county, Sweden.

NKT HV Cables AB (formerly ABB HV Cables) is a Danish company that specializes in developing, manufacturing and marketing of high-end cables, cable accessories, and cable solutions. I was employed as a master thesis student at the company. The aim of my thesis work was to investigate different types of faults that occur on a 320 kV HVDC cable systems in a VSC-type symmetrical monopolar configuration and thereby analyze the overcurrent (i.e. fault) profile caused due to different discharging mechanism and grounding. After my thesis work, I planned to stay at the company during the summer. During that time, I was involved in further improvement of the VSC-type symmetrical monopolar configuration model and benchmarking it by simulating overvoltage stresses on the cable systems. The overvoltage simulation was performed by conducting a parametric sweep analysis. The modeled system would be then used by the company for the simulation of HVDC cables. For me, this experience has resulted in a good understanding of the application of simulation in industrial activities and provided extensive insight and knowledge of HVDC technologies as a whole.
