Design-Thinking Instructor

Led groups of 5-6 high schoolers in a design-thinking summer program at the Hasso-Plattner Institute of Design at Stanford University. Guided students through the design-thinking process of empathizing, defining, ideating, prototyping, and testing to create products for clients with physical disabilities. Taught laser cutting, 3-D printing, selecting materials, sewing, woodworking, and using power tools. Instilled students with the knowledge and ability to apply design-thinking and human-centered design to solving real-world problems. About Design the Future: Design the Future is a week long, fully immersive design thinking summer program in which high school students work to solve some of the biggest challenges facing our world today. During this intensive program, created by DC Design and held in collaboration with the Stanford Institute of Design (the d.school) and K12 Lab Network, students will work to design solutions to real problems faced by individuals with physical disabilities. Through hands-on experiences students will learn to employ the design thinking process used at the Stanford d.school by working through the steps of Empathy, Definition, Ideation, Prototyping, and Testing. At the end of the one week program, each student group will present its final design and high resolution prototype during a media attended presentation. Show less
