I represent the minority district in Peoria. I feel it is important to represent ALL of the people in Acacia District. I represent the minority district in Peoria. I feel it is important to represent ALL of the people in Acacia District.

Note: I was re-elected to a four-year term in 2014 that will expire in 2018. I am one of six Councilpersons plus a Mayor who represent the City of Peoria and make decisions affecting the well-being of our citizens. I proudly represent the Acacia District in the southern part of the city, where the settlers began our city in 1897. We boast well-maintained parks with ballfields, an updated Community Center, a Woman's Club, the City's first community garden, and an up and coming Old Town where we enjoy a state-of-the-art theater, the Peoria Center for the Performing Arts, which houses Theater Works. Come visit one of our Food Truck Fridays and stay for a cocktail at Lucidi's Distillery, an adaptive re-use project built in our historic Fire House #1. Show less

I proudly served the residents of Acacia District for 8 years. (19 months as Vice Mayor) During that time I met so many wonderful residents and attended to their community needs. My focuses were on rejuvenating our downtown; increasing public art; creating or enhancing community parks (Osuna Park and Pioneer Park were planned during my time in office.) One of my many focuses was in keeping our neighborhoods clean to increase pride as well as the quality of life. I proudly served the residents of Acacia District for 8 years. This amazing organization mentors children who are going through the foster care program. We sponsor mentoring programs, a cooking and sewing program, a justice league program, a lifebook program, a dance program and a financial literacy and aging out program. We also provide a place where abused, abandoned and neglected children who are in foster care in Maricopa County can meet with their biological siblings, relatives and parents. I'm so proud to have been asked to join this Board. This amazing organization mentors children who are going through the foster care program. I sit on the Board of Directors. We plan art exhibits to be hung in our beautiful facility at City Hall. We also plan and present the Celebration of Artists which showcases the best work of local artists. I sit on the Board of Directors. I was appointed by the Governor to advocate for Arts in Arizona. We were responsible for awarding grants to arts organizations all over the state. We lobbied at the Capitol for continued support for the Arts. I was appointed by the Governor to advocate for Arts in Arizona. This boutique set in a 1920's historical home offered one-of-a-kind gifts. Meetings were also held there, as were weddings. This boutique set in a 1920's historical home offered one-of-a-kind gifts. Meetings were also held there, as were weddings.

My husband and I created the first Bed & Breakfast in Peoria. As the B&B grew, we began offering weddings at a reasonable price. Over 500 couples were married at our site. We were honored to create a welcoming and beautiful environment for travelers and local residents alike. My husband and I created the first Bed & Breakfast in Peoria.
