I have an active role in the lower Key Stage 3 English classes, developing and conducting engaging lessons for students who are later preparing for Checkpoint exams. My priorities are to focus on the principals of safeguarding and student wellbeing, as well as positive re-enforcement, which help to maintain a positive student experience everyday. Building trust is important to me through dialogue and expectations as well as open communications to parents and caregivers. As the Head of English & EAL, managing the departments and working collaboratively with other staff members is my core role. I have the opportunity to have a positive influence on the decisions made having to do with curriculum development and texts chosen for future years which is exciting. I teach senior years English (10 - 12 ) which I feel needs a supportive and communicative department to help unlock the full potential, of not just the senior students but students in all years of development. While the Head of KS 3, I had approximately 40 staff under me in Years 7 - 9 in all subject areas. Year 7 Coordinator

As the Year 7 Coordinator, I was incharge of the Year 7 cohort and managed the students learning and wellbeing. Being a home room teacher for one class, I was also the "got to" teacher if anyone in the year group had an issues to resolve, or anything they needed to talk about. I developed the English curriculum and assessment for the cohort inline with the National Curriculum of the UK, helping them while they moved towards their checkpoint examination.
