• Developed hands on classroom based environmental education programs and schoolyard habitat garden programs for students in Kindergarten through 6th grade based on the California State Science and Social Science Content Standards. Promote and teach programs and train staff. • Developed and implemented several Service Learning programs. Service learning is a teaching and learning strategy that integrates meaningful community service with instruction and reflection to enrich the learning experience, teach civic responsibility, and strengthen communities. • Promote BTN and its volunteer programs to local media, businesses and organizations in order to increase participation and create awareness of the organization. • Successfully authored grant applications in coordination with partnering agencies and organizations. • Developed, implemented, coordinated and evaluated all outdoor, environmental education programs (school programs, scout programs, public programs). Incorporated state curriculum standards into school program with a goal of increasing awareness and appreciation of our natural resources. • Conduct interpretive tours of the Irvine Ranch Land Reserve, research and write tour scripts for volunteers, and train volunteers to be better interpreters. Participate in all areas of public outreach and education. • As interim Public Programs Coordinator, managed 140 volunteer docents, including all aspects of supervision from initial orientation to occasional dismissals. Over a seven-month period, increased participation in public tours to 10,000 participants - more than the total number of tour participants for the entire year of 2002. • Promote TNC’s Irvine Ranch Land Reserve and its volunteer programs to local media, businesses and organizations in order to increase participation and create awareness of the organization. Independently staff the nature center. • Responsible for communicating laws, rules and regulations concerning resource and visitor protection, and recreational use. As the solitary ranger on duty, conduct patrols of the park and write tickets for infractions. • Provide interpretive tours to groups of up to 40 children concerning natural and cultural history, habitat characteristics, plants and wildlife, and environmental education.
