Nicole's work in helping set up our international office in Afghanistan was instrumental in the success of SALT International project to build and operate a soybean processing factory as part of a USDA grant. Considering the normal tasks associated with her office position were also accomplished in the context of being an expat in a conflict zone, learning a new culture and language, and working with a new team of local and expat co-workers, we were extremely fortunate to have her skills and professional mindset. I would recommend her to anyone without reservation.

Our organization was contracted by the American Soybean Association, under the umbrella of the United States Department of Agriculture, to collaborate with Afghan partners in the construction and operation of a food processing facility. During my four years in Afghanistan I successfully assisted with construction of this facility by coordinating logistics and travel for private contractors. In conjunction with company leadership, I researched, developed, and implemented company policies. I also served as the organization’s Security Officer, responsible for developing security protocol for all employees and collaborating with the Afghanistan NGO Security Organization on regional and country-wide security threats. We are all very proud of the work we accomplished on this project, and were thrilled to step aside as our Afghan partners assumed all responsibility of the facility. While in Afghanistan I also partnered with Afghans for Progressive Thinking to establish and train our city’s first ever university debate teams and tournaments, taught health and literacy classes in women’s prisons, and gave birth to two of my three children.
