Douglas Maibach, P.E.

Brad's passion and commitment make it easy for me to recommend him for any one who is looking for guidence on how to best engage in the not for profit world.

With over 18 years experience with Chambers of Commerce and 25 years in non-profit work, I've had the opportunity to work some exceptional individuals. Brad Irwin is one of those individuals--and frankly is at the top of the list. Brad lives and leads life in a whole hearted way. We worked together for over two years while trying to establish a Habitat for Humanity home build in our community. The property search took time and while we met, Brad shared with us a vision of community as habitat. The result is our ongoing My Habitat Clarkston initiative, which is a pilot program affiliated with Habitat for Humanity Oakland County. An excellent leader, public speaker, organizer and dream builder, Brad is a catalyst that can bring together a wide variety of talent, time, resources, interest and passion and create something incredible. If you have a chance to work with Brad Irwin, I highly recommend you seize the opportunity! He is a remarkable gifted man doing great work!

Voices for Earth Justice (VEJ) offers programs for people of all faiths for whom Earth care is an important part of their personal faith practice. VEJ seeks common ground from which people of many backgrounds can work together to practice better stewardship of Earth and better relations with each other. Since the board entrusted me to succeed our founder (who retired after 15 years), we've been expanding our program offerings, growing our community of support, improving our management systems, and starting a process to discern our mission and strategy for VEJ's next ten years.

Lake Norcentra Park at Rochester College is an initiative to develop a $5 million community "service learning park" in Rochester Hills, Michigan. The mission of Lake Norcentra Park is to make a place for the community to enjoy and practice health, service, and stewardship. As project director, I'm responsible for daily operations, fundraising, partnerships, programming, and strategy for Lake Norcentra Park. I'm leading the park initiative to focus on three points of impact for the community:1. Health and recreation for all2. Science learning programs for young people (especially those who are underprivileged)3. Jobs and skills training for college students and underemployed members of the communityMy priorities as I lead the initiative are:1. Engaging stakeholders, including raising capital to build the park and launch its programs2. Designing a "logic model" and strategy for the park's growth and ongoing operation3. Building a team of advisors, managers, and volunteers and a culture of excellence
