I oversaw a maintenance team which was responsible for the completion of work orders in a timely, efficient and well communicated manner. Administratively the Department of Public Health, Centers for Medicaid & Medicare Services and OSHA required logs to be kept in accordance with local, state and federal mandates; said logs were seamless, organized and always up to date. I thoroughly enjoyed this particular position; working with long term care residents was an honor and became very rewarding for me. With time most of them became like family to me and my staff. I took pride in my position and the ability to make a difference in these residents lives. The philosophy to treat them as if they were our family members was something I instilled in my staff and that philosophy shone through in our daily work habits. In 2016 our maintenance team scored a perfect (deficiency free) annual DPH/CMS physical plant survey. Show less

I began my employment as a maintenance engineer in this 207-bed, acute care hospital. During that time I was chosen to begin an apprenticeship with the lead HVAC/R engineer. Eventually both he and I were promoted, offering me the opportunity to assume the responsibilities of both a facility maintenance and HVAC/R engineer, thus creating the “Utility Engineer” position. The HVAC role of the position took precedence and I doubled on the maintenance team as needed. I was responsible for everything related to heating and cooling, ventilation, and refrigeration for the entire hospital as well as two office buildings on the campus. I managed my own inventory and ordered parts as needed while staying within budget. I maintained equipment dealing with pneumatics, actuators, hot water valves, PTAC units, ice machines just to name a few, and I also helped install and control an energy management program (Climatec) to maintain the buildings climate via the computers on the hospitals network. I also developed an extensive preventative maintenance plan for the department during my time at South Coast Medical Center. Show less
