The Cake Mix is a digital transformation impact agency, helping start ups and scale ups grow. Starting with strategy, we build out marketing and data systems and run campaigns that have a measurable impact on growth across the whole company. We also help train small business marketers and run mentoring groups to help CMOs and founders understand and implement digital strategies. https://thecakemix.co.uk/ The Cake Mix is a digital transformation impact agency, helping start ups and scale ups grow. Having completed my previous role in raising funds for Acorn I was responsible for marketing the platform and consulting with users to secure a pipeline of leads ready to use the product. As I had been integral to much of the marketing activity within the company it was a natural transition to assume this role.

Head of Sales and Partnerships

Oct 2017 - Sep 2018
The AcornHub was designed to help start-ups and scale-ups around the world by providing support to entrepreneurs from entrepreneurs. We raised $4M USD to achieve this and as part of the founding team I had the pleasure of building, leading and developing the sales team to secure this goal. In tandem with this I was responsible for securing partners who could help the founders on our platform realise their vision.

Facilitated introductions between CMOs from Fortune 500 brands and marketing providers who could partner with them on their critical projects. I worked alongside CMOs from brands such as Audi, Carlsberg, Unilever, GSK, BBC, Samsung and Zurich to engage with marketing organisations who could assist them with the challenges they faced in rolling out key projects. Good pubs are a rare opportunity so I took the chance to run my own, I enjoyed a fun couple of years in which I doubled turnover in the first 12 months and was well reviewed online and in local press. This was primarily driven via successful marketing campaigns which were largely content based. This included extensive use of social media platforms and direct mail in the form of a monthly newsletter, all of which was aimed to curate an audience outside of the pub itself with relevant and entertaining content. This marketing approach combined with an entertaining proposition of real ales, smoked food, live music and intelligent and personable staff facilitated the growth of the business in a waning industry.

I was responsible for a territory worth over £2million, my remit was to build new relationships whilst tending to existing ones to increase revenue, which I did by over 30% in two years in a post recession environment where the FMCG world was adapting to consumers "New Norms".
