I had the pleasure of having Wes as my line-manager during my time at Peak. From the day I started at Peak, Wes ensured I was integrating well into the team, I knew what my role entailed, and what resources were available to me. He has an incredibly organised and thoughtful way of working which is also present in his management style. As a manager, Wes understands the various aspects that affect one’s job performance and has a very considerate and empathetic approach. This creates an open and safe environment for one’s development, questions, and concerns. Wes encourages critical thinking and continuous improvement by giving actionable feedback and positive pushback. A significant portion of my growth and development was directly related to the information, actionable tasks, and motivation I got after a well-structured check-in with my manager. The guidance Wes offers is helpful and encouraging which motivates one to try new approaches to their work. In addition to his brilliant guidance and leadership, Wes’s technical knowledge combined with his detail-oriented approach fosters professional growth. Working with such a skilled manager has a positive impact on one's work. Overall, Wes is a highly-skilled, emotionally intelligent, and truly excellent manager.

      - Software testing and validation I have performed software testing and subsequent error analysis of Ada scripts using software verifications facilities. Subsequently, I completed script modifications to automate test procedures and corrections to validate control scripts. - Compression algorithms I have designed image compression algorithms in C to industry standard guidelines in order to test the mission applicability. In the future, these algorithms are to be integrated into the EXOMARS rover on-board software. As a consequence of this work, I attended the ESA On-Board Payload Data Compression 2016 conference at ESRIN, Italy. Here I attended presentations from compression experts, developing a further understanding of compression techniques and the wider application. Additional roles and experiences: - Production of a file conversion tool in C and GNU Octave - Registered STEM Learning Ambassador - Completion of Pluralsight C Training (C Programming Language Fundamentals and “The C Programming Language in Action) - Completion of FutureLearn (Earth Observation from Space & How to Survive on Mars (tbc) Show less

I was employed at Airbus for 13 months in the Mass Properties domain. My major projects were as follows; - Development of a data manipulation tool. Coded in the programming language Python, I produced a data handling tool capable of extracting, formatting and exporting large data quantities. The tool, designed to meet the business need of improved extraction efficiency and accuracy, improved the existing extraction method, reducing the process time by a factor of 40 per directory extracted. I presented this tool to a panel of software experts and since, the tool has been integrated into an established Airbus program and released companywide. - Mathematical modelling of a complex physical system. Coded in the programming language Python, I developed a mathematical model capable of simulating the loads experience by a landing gear structure for multiple landing conditions. The landing gear structure was simplified and represented mathematically using the laws of physics and geometric constraints governing the system. Simulation results match industry standard tools and physical drop tests. Following a presentation to software, landing gear and ground loads experts and the publishing of technical report detailing the methods, theories and results of the project, the model has since been delivered to multiple Airbus departments. The tool will be used as an introduction to loads training tool in the ground load departments, an early stage iterative sizing tool in the landing gear design domain and as a method of calculating fuselage vibrational responses to landing gear loads in the future project design office. Additional roles and experiences; - Flight Wiki Ambassador - Flight Physics Olympics Committee Member - Number Partners - Airbus Engineering Challenge - Airbus Early Careers Snowdon Challenge - Python Training - Industry Lectures and Workshops Show less
