Length of stay and most effective level of care metrics were identified and reported to the Vice President and Medical Director. After assuming oversight of the telemetry unit, the need for two new positions was identified. Mentored and trained the newly hired telemetry supervisors. • Manager Utilization Review, Registered Nurse
      • 2005 - 2008

ENCOMPASS is the division of the Iowa Foundation for Medical Care that provides case management and utilization review services to insurance clients. Oversaw approximately 50 direct reports. The client base included small companies with self-funded insurance, up to a large municipality. Responsible for 16 insurance industry business clients. The size of the businesses ranged from 300 to 200,000 covered lives. Performed the customary tasks and skills of a manager including budget application, staffing, counseling, data collection, data evaluation, presentations to clients, defense of physican decisions and trouble-shooting clien issues. Identified and implemented process improvement strategies, to include committee hiring processes and individual’s tracking of performance measures. Over 2 years, the attrition of the client base remained less than ten percent. Monthly, quarterly and annual reports were prepared with zero defects, and presented to the clients. Outside agencies and insurance clients utilized the quarterly and annual reports for predictive modeling for future health care expenditures. During my tenure the staff engagement scores increased, by implementing programs to include employee hiring by staff member committees and monthly staff progress reviews. Show less
