Course Director | Design for Advanced Robotic Fabrication
-
Mar 2023 - Present
In this elective seminar, undergrad students learn about robotic fabrication from basic to advanced techniques. They start by drawing with a robot pen tool, move on to 3D printing clay, and finish with multiplanar workflow and incremental sheet forming. Robot tools, developed specifically for the class, are continuously iterated to expose students not only to robot usage but also to designing fabrication tools. The mentor-student teaching style facilitates learning in the following areas:• Learn how to design for fabrication through Rhino and Grasshopper• Designing for fabrication through Rhino and Grasshopper• Understanding robotic fabrication principles and systems• Gaining hands-on experience with large-scale 3d printing and incremental sheet forming (ISF)• Designing fabrication tools. Adjunct Instructor | Computation-Based Basic Design Studio
-
Oct 2022 - Mar 2023
Computation-Based Basic Design Studio was developed and initiated by Şebnem Yalınay Çinici and Onur Yüce Gün and has been conducted since 2009 by a group of theme-expert professionals and young academicians. The purpose of the studio is to develop a new-generation design education by integrating 1:1 scale construction experience through an understanding of materials and computational design+manufacturing technologies.

Adjunct Instructor - Design Geometry & Computing
-
Oct 2021 - Oct 2022
Computational design theories, technologies, and tools lie as the core subjects of the Design Computing course. The goal is to encourage students in approaching design problems with an analytical attitude. It introduces coding, optimization, and simulation as methods supporting design studies. Grasshopper is taught as the main software, supported by various rendering engines and plug-ins.

N.E.S.T is a successful design proposal for a mountain-dwelling and the first prototype of a series of wooden dwellings to be built in the Himalayas. The structure was constructed during a three-week intensive workshop in Kathmandu, commissioned by Backstreet Academy. Our design process included a six-month research seminar at IAAC. A team of 19, including myself, worked on the project, and my contributions included: • Building the structure and overseeing the assembly • Working on the insulation, which involved combining Gore-tex and wool • Utilizing cutting-edge technology such as Grasshopper and Galapagos to optimize the structure Show less
