  Over the course of two and a half years, I worked in a number of capacities for the daily paper of record at the University of Oregon. I covered student government on the news desk, before assuming the role of opinion editor. Toward the end of my second year, I also started helping out on the copy desk and learned a lot about the work of designing a paper. By the end, I was a co-copy chief and the community editor, running our renovated opinion section and refining my skills as a copy editor.
