Hermitianta is a passionate community organizer with a high spirit to learn. He worked with me in assisting and empowering villages' communities to work on their waste management and he specialized in the organic farming transition program. With his broad knowledge, open mind, and easy-to-adapt nature, he successfully worked with various stakeholders from grassroots levels to national-level governments and other like-minded organizations. He was an excellent writer and photographer who also loved to joke around, creating a comforting environment for people around him. Thankful for having him as my partner to discuss various challenges in the field and worked together to solve them.

Merah Putih Hijau is a progressive social-environmental initiative on source-based waste management in Bali under the parent organization Yayasan Bumi Sasmaya. Currently, MPH runs a village empowerment program in 14 villages in Bali. Our pilot projects are source-based waste management systems with operating facilities in Desa Taro and Desa Pejeng in Gianyar Regency, plus Desa Pejarakan in Buleleng Regency. We promote a sustainable source-based waste management system by developing Eco-Champions in every village. We aim to create a circular local economy benefiting from waste management within a village. In 2022, all 14 villages have already managed their own waste and material management facilities. MPH's mission is to integrate waste management with economic activities in the villages to form circular economy practices through organic and non-organic material life cycle. The first organic materials circular economy project has been running with the nametag CERDAS (Circular Economy Development in Organic Agriculture) and funded by Australia Grant Scheme. The project involves 26 farmers from 6 villages, managing 7 hectares of farmland, and utilizing 28 tonnes of compost per season for the next 2 years. Show less

BUMDesa (Badan Usaha Milik Desa) is a village-owned business enterprise with a legal foundation of Village Regulation, a mandatory from Indonesian Ministry of Village, Development of Disadvantaged Regions and Transmigration. From the beginning, I directed the incubation process of Poncosari Village's BUMDesa for 9 months of setting Village Regulation (Peraturan Desa Poncosari no. 4, 5 & 6 tahun 2019) as a legal foundation and marked as the establishment of BUMDesa Mukti Lestari. I worked with the village government, youths and elders to create business plan and the organization of BUMDesa. I was elected as a Director of BUMDesa Mukti Lestari on 12 August 2019, and started the first business activity on 5 January 2020. I created the main program of BUMDesa Mukti Lestari "Konservasi Poncosari" or "Poncosari Conservation" with an abbreviation KONCO, a Javanese word for "friend". The first business unit namely KONCO Pilah, a local waste management unit following the Indonesian Ministry of Environment and Forestry's program "Pilah Sampah Dari Rumah" or "waste sorting from home". The business of waste collecting, sorting and processing started on January 2020. The second business unit is still on incubation process is called KONCO Plesir. The word Plesir came from Javanese word of travelling. KONCO Plesir will be operated in the field of sustainable tourism in Poncosari village. Show less
